Devotional: The God of All Comfort ( 2 Corinthians 1: 1-7)

Image
Happy new month 🥰, welcome to the month of AUGUST, it would be a month of blessings and abundant grace in Jesus name 🙏. Amen Our Scripture for today : 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 (NIV) > " Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer." >  Discussion   The Apostle Paul, who knew suffering intimately, opens his letter to the Corinthians with a profound praise . He speaks of God not only as a comforter, but as "the God of all comfort." This means there is no trouble, no pain, no season of despair t...

Devotional: Living a Life That Honors God (Hebrews 13)

Image
Our Scripture for today : Hebrews 13:1-6 (NIV) > " Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.' So we say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'" Discussion   Hebrews 13 provides practical instructions for living a life that truly honors God, reminding us that our faith isn't just about what we believe, but how we live. Let Brotherly love continue . This isn...

Devotional: Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12)

Image
It's Wednesday 😊, praise the lord🗣️     Halleluyah 🙌 🙌 🙌  Our Scripture for today : Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV) > " Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Discussion   Imagine an athlete preparing for a race. To perform their best, they must shed all unnecessary weight and distractions. Our Christian life is much the same. The author of Hebrews calls us to a race of faith, urging us to "throw off everything that hinders" us. This includes not only sin but also "weights" - things that may not be inherently wrong, but which slow us down or distract us from our purpose. The key to running this race succe...

Devotional: FAITH Hebrew 11: 1-40

Image
Glory be to God in the highest 🙌🙌,  Our Scripture for Today Hebrews 11:1-3 KJV [1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. [2] For by it the elders obtained a good report. [3] Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Today we would be looking at Faith: The Key to Complete Salvation "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1 Today, we delve into the profound importance of faith in achieving complete salvation. This isn't just a theological concept; it's a living truth that transforms lives. Let's explore why faith is the indispensable key. The Indispensable Nature of Faith Faith is often misunderstood as mere belief or wishful thinking. However, as Hebrews 11:1 powerfully declares, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen....

Devotional: WHY IS THE SACRIFICE OF THE LAMB SUPERIOR (Hebrew 10 1-20)

Image
All glory to God for the new week, Glory be to his holy name  HALLELUYAH 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌   Today, Our focus is on a powerful Question  WHY IS THE SACRIFICE OF THE LAMB SUPERIOR?  Our Scripture For Today Hebrew 10: 1-5. Hebrews 10:1-3 KJV [ 1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. [2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.  This is talking about the law God gave to Moses, A shadow of what is coming not the full representation or image of it. Citing the sacrifice of sanctification which the priest must offer on behalf of the people yearly but even still the sacrifice can’t make them cleanse completely, verse 4 clarifies it “ Fo...

Devotional: The Superior Sacrifice. (Hebrews 9:1-28)

Image
Happy weekend! It's a blessed day already.💫🌞 We thank our Lord Jesus Christ who brought us out of the limitations of the Old covenant and set us alright by the New covenant. Glory to His name! Today's scripture ; Hebrews 9:1-28  But, our emphasis will be on verse 11-14. Hebrews 9:11-14 KJV [11] But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; [12] neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. [13] For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: [14] how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Animal sacrifice was sufficient for a temporary covering of sin...

Devotional: The high priest of a New Covenant.(Hebrews 8:1-13)

Image
Praise be to God who gave us power over sin and delivered us from religious activities through His superior priesthood! Hallelujah! Our scripture for today : Hebrews 8:1-13 Hebrews 8:1-4 KJV [1] Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; [2] a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. [3] For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. [4] For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law... These chapter is a continuation of what we learnt in Chapter 7 yesterday, verse 1, Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum...  Hebrews 8:6 NLT [6] But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he...

Devotional: The superiority of our high priest. (Hebrews 7:1-28)

Image
We give glory to God for how He has  encouraged us through His word not to get weary of doing good and that our reward will surely come. Blessed be God! Today, our scriptural reading is; Hebrews 7:1-28. Let's do well to go through these verses.  Hebrews 7:1-5 KJV [1] For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; [2] to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; [3] without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. [4] Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. [5] And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the p...

Devotional: God won't forget your labour of love. ( Hebrews 6:1-20)

Image
Happy new day! It's a day to enjoy the goodness of God through His words again. We learnt how God implore us to grow into maturity and how He wants us to forsake the life of a babe in the spirit and attain that great heights in Him. May we be willing to yield in Jesus' name. Our scripture for today : Hebrews 6:1-20. But, we would love to dive deeper into verse 10 for today. Hebrews 6:10 KJV For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews 6:10 CEV God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and he won't forget the love you have shown his people. DISCUSSION When we are discouraged we sometimes think God forgets us and all we have done for Him and for His people. But God would deny His own nature if He forgot such things (He would be unjust). God sees and remembers. Lik...

PRIESTHOOD (Hebrews 5:1-14)

Image
Yesterday was when we learnt or got reminded of how we can enter into God's rest by faith and to make use of the words of God to our advantage. Praise God! Today, we will dive into what Hebrews Chapter 5 has for us. May we be able to patiently hear what He'll say to us in Jesus' name. Hebrews 5:1-4 KJV [1] For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: [2] who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. [3] And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. [4] And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron... The first few verses explains the work or responsibilities of a priest, the primary job of the high priest was to officiate, either directly or indirectly through lower- ranking priests, making sacrifices to t...

REST FOR THE WEARY. (Hebrews 4:1-16)

Image
We praise the name of God for a new day! Glory be unto His name. Yesterday, we learnt about the faithfulness of Jesus and how we should not harden our hearts and be unbelieving. May God help us. Today, we'll be going straight into chapter 4:1-16 of the same book of Hebrews.  Hebrews 4:1- KJV [1] Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. [2] For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. [3] For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world... From here, we would see how the promise of rest (Matthew 11:28) has been made for us but without faith, we can't tap into what this promise will do in our lives. For every promise, there must be an expectation and this e...

Don't let your heart harden (Hebrews 3:1-19)

Image
Happy Sunday ✨🤗,happy new week, We've had some wonderful time last week, just focusing on how truly magnificent Jesus is. We've seen how He's God's ultimate and perfect message, and how He's absolutely in charge, way above any angel. Knowing that truth is so powerful! Hope you went to church today! Today, the book of Hebrews gives us a really important, but gentle, heads-up. Let's open our hearts and see what it has to say to us.    Our Scripture for today: Hebrews 3:1 - 19: NKJV [1] Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, [2] who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was  faithful in all His house. [3] For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. [4] For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God......  DISCUSSION : Jesus is Fully Trustworthy: Just ...

Devotional: Glimpses of Glory – The Gentle Drift, and Why We Must Stay Alert (Hebrews 2:1-4)

Image
Happy Saturday 😊✨! It’s incredible how quickly the week flies by. We’ve spent the last couple of days just soaking in the sheer majesty of Jesus – how He’s God’s final, perfect word, and how He’s absolutely supreme, far above any angel. Knowing that truth is powerful, and today, the book of Hebrews gives us a really important, though gentle, warning. Let’s open our hearts to it. Our Scripture for Today: Hebrews 2:1-18 - "Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?" DISCUSSION : So, after hearing about Jesus' unmatched ...

Devotional: Glimpses of Glory - knowing the Superiority of Jesus (Hebrews 1:4-14)

Image
Yesterday, we marvelled at how Jesus is God's ultimate Word, the clearest revelation of who God is. Today, we're going to dive even deeper into His incredible supremacy, especially when we compare Him to powerful beings like angels. Get ready to be blessed ! Our Scripture for Today: Hebrews 1:4-14 - "having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels did He ever say: 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You'? And again: 'I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son'? But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: 'Let all the angels of God worship Him.' And of the angels He says: 'Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.' But to the Son He says: 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.'" (Verses 5-8 are quoted here, but the entire...

Devotional: When God Spoke – And How He Speaks Now (Hebrews 1:1-3)

Image
Our Scripture for Today: Hebrews 1:1-3 - "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. DISCUSSION  You know, when you read through the Old Testament, it's fascinating to see all the different ways God chose to speak to His people. Imagine Moses, face-to-face with a burning bush (Exodus 3) that wouldn't burn up – a dramatic, fiery encounter! Or Elijah, in a moment of deep despair, hearing God not in the loud wind or earthquake, but in a quiet, still, small voice (1 Kings 19). Then there's Isaiah, caught up in a heavenly vision (Isaiah 6) that must have been breathtaking. But God i...
