Devotional: When God Spoke – And How He Speaks Now (Hebrews 1:1-3)

Our Scripture for Today: Hebrews 1:1-3 - "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

DISCUSSION

You know, when you read through the Old Testament, it's fascinating to see all the different ways God chose to speak to His people. Imagine Moses, face-to-face with a burning bush (Exodus 3) that wouldn't burn up – a dramatic, fiery encounter! Or Elijah, in a moment of deep despair, hearing God not in the loud wind or earthquake, but in a quiet, still, small voice (1 Kings 19). Then there's Isaiah, caught up in a heavenly vision (Isaiah 6) that must have been breathtaking.

But God isn't limited to the extraordinary.

He even spoke to Hosea through the painful reality of his family crisis (Hosea 1:2), showing us that even our brokenness can be a canvas for His message. Amos? God used something as ordinary as a basket of fruit (Amos 8:1) to get his attention. It's like God was speaking in all these different "colors" of light, reaching out in so many unique ways.

But then, Jesus came. And with Him, everything became crystal clear. He's not just another "color" in the spectrum; He's the pure, brilliant light itself. This passage tells us He's the "heir of all things" – meaning everything belongs to Him, and He's in charge of it all. He's not just some great prophet; He's the Son, the very "brightness of God's glory," the perfect image of God. Think about it: He created our beautiful world, and He holds it all t

ogether just by His powerful word! And the most incredible part? He cleansed us from our sins, and then He actually sat down at God's right hand. That's not just relaxing; it's a statement of complete victory and authority.

So, for you and me, how well do we know Jesus, How has he revealed himself to us, Phil 3:10 what is our victory in him?

PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for not leaving me in the dark. Thank You for speaking to us in so many ways, and for finally sending Your Son, Jesus, as Your perfect, clearest word.

Help me, Lord, to truly grasp just how supreme he is

 Reveal Jesus to me

Let me come to the reality of his victory and authority in my life

In Jesus name Amen 🙏
