Devotional: WHY IS THE SACRIFICE OF THE LAMB SUPERIOR (Hebrew 10 1-20)
All glory to God for the new week, Glory be to his holy name HALLELUYAH π π π π
Today, Our focus is on a powerful Question
WHY IS THE SACRIFICE OF THE LAMB SUPERIOR?
Hebrew 10: 1-5. Hebrews 10:1-3 KJV
[1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. [2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
This is talking about the law God gave to Moses, A shadow of what is coming not the full representation or image of it. Citing the sacrifice of sanctification which the priest must offer on behalf of the people yearly but even still the sacrifice can’t make them cleanse completely, verse 4 clarifies it
“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.” Hebrews 10:4 NKJV.
Now moving to verse 5 where it is showing us how the sacrifice of the Lamb is supreme and has covered all other sacrifices that has been made in the past “Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me.”Hebrews 10:5 NKJV.
Reading from verse 11 downward tell us one of the things to note concerning the superior Sacrifice of the lamb which is freedom from sin. You are no longer under the bondage of your old way or old sef, believing and confessing to the death and resurrection of Jesus makes the sacrifice The
perfect and permanent atonement for your sins.
“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” Hebrews 10:12, 14 NKJV
Moving on to verses 16-20 ““This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, Hebrews 10:16, 18-20 NKJV
This verse explains the convenant which He will make with us after believing in Him and also give a key to what can help us to stay in the convenant which is having His word in our heart.
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” Psalms 119:11 NKJV
What can help us more is staying in the convenant of the supreme sacrifice and obedience to His instructions. “So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.” I Samuel 15:22 NKJV
Prayers
Lord, softened my heart to always listen and keep to your word and instructions for my life.
Lord, help me to leave a life that give glory to your name, so your death and resurrection won’t be in vain in my life.
Amen ππΎ
