Devotional : Conclusion To the Book of 2nd Corinthians

Image
Scripture for the day “Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet each other with a sacred kiss. All of God’s people here send you their greetings. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬ As we round up with our devotional for the month of August; so far you and I have learnt many things from Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth. And it is the will our Father in Heaven that these words that have been written and read by you is already finding expression in your heart. The Book of Corinth has been.................. From: - Chapter 1 where we studied about “THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD AND HIS PROMISES”. Paul shows that all God’s promises are fulfilled in Christ. Through the Spirit who anoints, seals, and guarantees us,...

Devotional : EXAMINE YOURSELF

Image
Good morning people of God 😊 Scripture for Today > "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?" > — 2 Corinthians 13:5 In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul asks a question that can make us feel uncomfortable: "Am I really a Christian?" It's a deeply personal challenge, not an invitation to doubt our salvation, but to honestly assess our faith. It's easy to look at others and find flaws, but the mirror of self-examination is the one we must turn toward ourselves first. As Paul reminds us, the Corinthians were quick to criticize him while failing to look at their own lives. This is a crucial first step—to humbly submit ourselves to Christ's scrutiny, asking him to reveal what grieves his Spirit. This kind of self-examination isn't meant to make us focus on our sin, but to draw us closer to Christ. It’s an act of surrender that can...

DEVOTIONAL: THE STRENGTH OF GRACE IN WEAKNESS

Image
The scripture for today: “Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the in sults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ 1. A Heavenly Revelation, Humbly Told In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul unveils a deep spiritual lesson by first speaking of a vision that few could imagine. He tells of being “caught up to the third heaven,” a place of unspeakable glory. Yet even here, Paul avoids self-exaltation. He deliberately speaks in the third person, refusing to attach the glory of the experience to himself. Unlike the self-promoting “super apostles” who flaunted their spiritual experiences, Paul shows restraint and humility. He had carried this vision sil...

Devotional : SPIRITUAL PURITY & DANGERS OF FALSE APOSTLES

Image
Scripture for Today > " But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough." — 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (NIV)  Paul’s words to the Corinthians serve as a timeless warning for Christians to protect their faith from false teachings and superficial appearances. The Jealousy of God and the Bride of Christ Paul begins by expressing a divine jealousy for the Corinthian believers. This isn’t a selfish, human emotion, but God's protective desire for our holiness. He wants us to be entirely devoted to Him because He knows that our purity and purpose depend on our full surrender. Paul presents himself as a "friend of the groom," preparing the...

Devotional: A Question of Apostolic Character: Paul’s Defense in Corinth (2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭1‬-‭6)

Image
Scripture: “Now I, Paul, appeal to you with the gentleness and kindness of Christ—though I realize you think I am timid in person and bold only when I write from far away. Well, I am begging you now so that when I come I won’t have to be bold with those who think we act from human motives. “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭1‬-‭6 NLT‬‬ In this chapter Paul changes his tone, turning from encouragement about generosity (ch. 8–9) to a firm defense of his authority as an apostle. He begins with an appeal in the meekness and gentleness of Christ, reminding the Corinthians that although some acc...

Devotional :What Happens When You Give (2 Corinthians 9:8-15)

Image
Scripture of the Day: “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. And they will pray for you with deep affection b...

Devotional : THE BIBLICAL STANDARD FOR GIVING (2 Corinthians 9:1-7)

Image
Happy weekend, people of God, we bless God for a fulfilled week Glory be to his name Scripture of the Day: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7: " But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." The way we give reveals the condition of our hearts. God isn't looking for a transactional exchange where we give something to get something back. Instead, He's looking for a heart that gives freely, joyfully, and with a sense of purpose. This isn't just about money; it’s about giving our time, our energy, and our resources. The Principle of the Sower The Bible compares giving to a farmer planting seeds. If a farmer holds back and plants only a few seeds, he might have more seed in his barn for a while, but his harvest will be small. The farmer who sows generously will reap a bountiful harvest. This same ...

Devotional: Paul’s devotion to giving.

Image
Glory be to God in the highest, Halleluyah  Our scripture for today  : Corinthians 8:16-24 “We give thanks to God for putting the same devotion I have for you into the heart of Titus. Of course, he enthusiastically accepted our request to go to Corinth, but because he carries you in his heart, he’d already planned on coming.” Discussion 2 Corinthians 8 has taught us about giving so far. We saw the example of the Macedonian church and most especially the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Today let’s discuss how Paul was able to effectively collect the donations without raising criticism from people and also in a way that it pleases God. ‭ But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus : Paul’s intention is to recommend Titus to them as a trustworthy bearer of their money. And we have sent with him the brother whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churche s: This brother, Who is he? This brother accompanied Titus when he went...

Devotional : The Example of Giving (Jesus Christ)

Image
Praise God, Halleluyah,  Our topic for today is Jesus Christ : The Example of Giving  Our scripture for today  : Corinthians 8:9-15 > " For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich ." >  Discussion  The Grace of Jesus' Giving This powerful verse from Paul's letter to the Corinthians reveals the heart of Christian giving and the immense love of Jesus. It's an invitation to understand what true generosity looks like by looking at the ultimate example: Jesus himself. Let's break down this verse to understand its profound meaning. He Was Rich Before He was born on Earth, Jesus was not just rich in a worldly sense; He was unimaginably wealthy. As the second person of the Trinity, God the Son, He lived in the perfection of heaven, surrounded by divine glory and power. His riches were not gold or possessions, but the very essence of His divine being. P...

Devotional : The example of the Macedonian Christians.

Image
The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. Our topic for today is The Example of the Macedonian Christians . The scripture we are working with is 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 : “ Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.” From this scripture we would see that the church at Macedonian gave willingly even though they didn’t have much. But we can also see from the scripture that the main point is not just giving willingly, but giving ourselves to God only ...

Devotional : A Refreshed Spirit & Renewed Confidence

Image
We thank God for the gift of a new day, Halleluyah AMEN  Our topic for today is an extension of yesterday's discussion (GODLY SORROW & REPENTANCE)  Titled "A REFRESHED SPIRIT & RENEWED CONFIDENCE"  Our Scripture for today :  2 Corinthians 7:13-16: Therefore we have been comforted in your comfort. And we rejoiced exceedingly more for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all. For if in anything I have boasted to him about you, I am not ashamed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting to Titus was found true. And his affections are greater for you as he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him. Therefore I rejoice that I have confidence in you in everything. This passage shows the beautiful result of genuine repentance. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians had been a difficult one, but the Corinthians' response—their genuine repentance—brought comfort and immense joy to Paul a...

Devotional : GODLY SORROW & REPENTANCE

Image
Glory be to God in the highest, for the privilege to witness another week in the month of AUGUST, Halleluyah  Our Scripture for today : 2 Corinthians 7: 1-10 NKJV [1] Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God......  [9] Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. [10] For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. Discussion   Our Christian walk involves two key aspects of cleansing: God's work in us and our participation with Him. First, there's the work of cleansing by faith. This is God's work alone, and it's something we receive as we trust in Jesus's sacrifice for us. As 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forg...

DEVOTIONAL : THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD

Image
You Are the Temple of the Living God Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:11–18 2 Corinthians 6:11–13 (NKJV) "O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open. You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections. Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open." 2 Corinthians 6:14–18 “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.’ Therefore, ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.’ ‘I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons ...

Paul's Ministry: A Model of Endurance and Integrity

Image
Today's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:1–10 2 Corinthians 6:1. We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2. For He says:  "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you."[1] Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 3. We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. 4. But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, 5. in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings; 6. by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, 7. by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 8. by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; 9. as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chas...

RECONCILIATION IN NEW COVENANT MINISTRY

Image
RECONCILIATION: A BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR THE GLORY OF THE NEW COVENANT TO MANIFEST Today's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 2 Corinthians 5:11. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences. 14. For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 20. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. 21. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Glory be to the Lord Jesus in the highest for another wonderful day this week. May His grace continue to abound in our lives, in Jesus' name. Previously, we discussed the expectations of those who receive the new cov...

EXPECTATION OF THE RECEIVER OF THE NEW COVENANT MINISTRY

Image
EXPECTATION OF THE RECEIVER OF THE NEW COVENANT MINISTRY Today's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:1–10 2 Corinthians 5:1 – For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Verse 4 – For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened—not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Verse 5 – Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. Verse 7 – For we walk by faith, not by sight. Verse 8 – We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Verse 9 – Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. Verse 10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Glory t...

CHALLENGES THAT COME WITH THE MINISTRY OF THE NEW COVENANT

Image
Today's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:7–18 2 Corinthians 4:8–11, 16–17 (NKJV) 8. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9. persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10. always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 16. Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. All glory to the Lord Jesus for another day in this week. It is only by His mercy that we are not consumed, and His grace, mercy, and favour will continue to work in us and for us, in Jesus’ name. Previously, we examined the ministry of th...

Devotional : New Covenant Ministry

Image
New Covenant Ministry Today's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:1–6 2 Corinthians 4:2 – But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. Verse 4 – Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. We bless God, who has given us the grace to see another week again. May His name be praised forever and ever. Penultimately and previously, we learned about the glory of the new covenant and the difference between it and the old covenant. But today, we will be considering the ministry of the new covenant . This ministry is a wonderful one, given by God to Paul. And Paul, as a servant of God, ensured that the word was preached undiluted. He took this gospel of the new covenant to the people in Corinth—...
