Devotional : Conclusion To the Book of 2nd Corinthians
Scripture for the day
“Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet each other with a sacred kiss. All of God’s people here send you their greetings. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
2 Corinthians 13:11-14 NLT
As we round up with our devotional for the month of August; so far you and I have learnt many things from Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth. And it is the will our Father in Heaven that these words that have been written and read by you is already finding expression in your heart.
The Book of Corinth has been.................. From:
- Chapter 1 where we studied about “THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD AND HIS PROMISES”. Paul shows that all God’s promises are fulfilled in Christ. Through the Spirit who anoints, seals, and guarantees us, we have security and joy, while leaders simply support our faith in God’s unchanging promises.
- Chapter 2 where God taught us about “THE POWER OF LOVE IN CORRECTION AND FORGIVENESS”
- Chapter 3: “THE GLORY OF THE NEW COVENANT 1&2”
- Chapter 4: “NEW COVENANT MINISTRY”
- Chapter 5: “RECONCILIATION IN NEW COVENANT MINISTRY”
- Chapter 6 we learnt about “PAUL'S MINISTRY: A MODEL OF ENDURANCE AND INTEGRITY”, we also discussed about the topic “THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD”
- Chapter 7 was about “GODLY SORROW & REPENTANCE” and “A REFRESHED SPIRIT & RENEWED CONFIDENCE”
- Chapter 8: “THE EXAMPLE OF THE MACEDONIAN CHRISTIANS”
- Chapter 9: “THE BIBLICAL STANDARD FOR GIVING”
- Chapter 10: “A Question of Apostolic Character: Paul’s Defense in Corinth”
- Chapter 11: “SPIRITUAL PURITY & DANGERS OF FALSE APOSTLES”
- Chapter 12: “THE STRENGTH OF GRACE IN WEAKNESS”
- Chapter 13: “EXAMINE YOURSELF”
Now as Paul rounds up his letter to the Church at Corinth; he began by saying:
“Finally, brethren, farewell”. Farewell is much better translated rejoice. Even though Paul has been severe with the Corinthian Christians, all was written to the end that they would enjoy the joy of walking in a right relationship with God. He also reminded us that as Christians, we shouldn’t excuse and neglect areas of our life by saying, “I’m just not into that” or “That’s just my weak point.” We certainly cannot work on everything at once before the Lord, but we can have a heart to become complete. Then he ended it all with “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all”
