Devotional: RIGHTEOUSNESS AS OUR MASTER (Romans 6:18)

Yesterday, we affirmed that the life in us is the life of God, considering ourselves dead to sin and giving ourselves totally to God.

In our continuation of Romans 6, we learn that whatsoever we give ourselves to, we become slaves of it . It's either sin which leads to death or obedience which leads to righteousness. But we thank God because Christ has delivered us from the bondage of sin as we are now being made slaves to righteousness.

It's a must that we give ourselves to the life of righteousness for us to become holy, you have to put your faith in God and His word.

To be free from sin tells us that sin is no longer your master but the one you now serve is righteousness.

✓ The will of God becomes our will

✓ We have a relationship with christ that can never be broken

✓ We willingly chooses to serve Jesus and lay aside our own desires.

✓ We receive eternal life through Christ Jesus

All these are the benefits of working for righteousness but the end result of living a sinful life is *death*

Romans 6:23 NKJV

[23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As believers in christ, we now have the power to rule over sin before we have been set free from the shackles of sin. Jesus Christ is telling us to no longer behave as if we are still slaves to sin. The bible tells us in 1 John 1:8 that if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves but the power of christ in us helps us to resist temptation and by that way we are not slaves to sin.

Prayer,

Lord Jesus Empower me to resist temptations that comes my way

Help me to live a righteous life and not be bounded by sin

In Jesus name

Amen.
