Devotional : *LIVING WITH A MISSION-ORIENTED MINDSET*
We bless God for another beautiful week. Yesterday, we learnt about the topic "Bearing With Others And Glorifying God".
As we proceed in the word of God this week, may we be blessed in Jesus' name. Amen.
Scripture for Today: *Romans 14:14-33*
Key Verses: Romans 15:14, 17-18, 30 NIV
_I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another._
_Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished_ _through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done_
_I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me._
*DISCUSSION*
In Romans 15:14-33, Paul gives a glimpse of his ministry heart. He shares his ministry and missionary endeavors, highlighting his commitment to serving the Gentiles and spreading the gospel. He commends the Roman believers for their goodness and knowledge. Goodness is another fruit of God’s Spirit (Gal 5:22). Ability to instruct each other is what all believers should have. Paul expresses his desire to visit Rome and share the gospel with the believers there.
In verses (17-18) Paul did not glory (boast) in himself. His service was in Christ and his rejoicing was in Christ. He did not think it was by his ability or power that his work was accomplished. His goal was not personal glory, but that the nations might be sanctified and glorify God.
How often do we see God as the one that gives us enablement in all our success or achievement? When you pray for the sick and the person is healed, do you return glory to God or you see it as your power? This is a challenge to us today.
Another lesson we can learn from this bible passages is the place of interceding for those on the mission field. Even a great apostle like Paul depended on the prayers of believers. He knew ministry involves struggles and dangers, but prayer unites believers in God’s mission. Through prayer, the church partners with God’s servants in their work. How often do you intercede for the church leaders, missionaries and the spread of the gospel? If you haven't started, this is a call for us today.
As we reflect on Paul's ministry and mission, may we be inspired to serve others with purpose and to share the gospel with boldness. May we recognize the importance of prayer and support in our ministries and missionary endeavors, and may we be united in our commitment to spreading the good news.
*PRAYER*
* Lord, thank You for calling me to be part of Your mission. Help me to walk faithfully in my calling, relying not on my strength but on Your Spirit.
* Help me to serve others with purpose and intentionality, and give me boldness to share the gospel with those around me.
* Let me be a part of Your larger mission to spread the good news to all nations. Amen.
