Devotional : DEATH THROUGH ADAM, LIFE THROUGH CHRIST ( Romans 5:19)
Previously, we talked about the unconditional love of God for us, how he gave up his son for our reconcilation with him.
*Romans 5:19 NKJV*
*[19] For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be* *made righteous.*
In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve sinned against God and sin came into this world. The earth became mortal as a result of his actions,"for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
The work of a man made us sinners but to gain righteousness we have to believe in the work of other man. We are not sinners because we disobey the law, but we are made sinner through the work of Adam. The law couldn't save us, it was too weak to save sin rather causes more .
Someone had to stand in gap, another Adam was raised, Jesus Christ a representation.
Adam and Jesus had impact to mankind. Their works brought consequences
✓ The work of Adam brought death while the work of christ brings grace
✓ Adam's disobedience makes mankind sinners but Jesu obedience makes many righteous.
✓ If we choose Adam, we receive judgement and condemnation but if we choose Jesus, we receive the gift of God's grace and justification
We can choose to either be under the reign of Adam or under the reign of Christ
Truly, we are born identified with Adam but there is a room to be born again with Jesus.
Our sinful acts affirms our identification with Adam. Any time we go back to our sinful life, therefore we're under the leading of Adam.
A free gift has been given to us all - the gift of salvation, justification. Christ already gave us redemption. Truly, one man made us sinner but we can be made righteous by the work of another man not the law. The law only makes our sin clearer to us and shows us God's holy standard.
We are now in the era of grace, if sin triumphs under the law, then grace supercedes it.
The reign of Grace is marked by righteousness and eternal life and all these can be achieved through Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Lord, let your grace continue to abound in my life
I choose to walk in your path, lord, help me not to take the wrong step
In Jesus name
Amen
