It's Wednesday 😊, praise the lordπŸ—£️

Our Scripture for today : Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)

> "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Discussion

Imagine an athlete preparing for a race. To perform their best, they must shed all unnecessary weight and distractions. Our Christian life is much the same. The author of Hebrews calls us to a race of faith, urging us to "throw off everything that hinders" us. This includes not only sin but also "weights" - things that may not be inherently wrong, but which slow us down or distract us from our purpose.

The key to running this race successfully is not just in what we throw off, but in where we fix our gaze. The scripture says we must be "fixing our eyes on Jesus." This is a deliberate act of looking away from the distractions and challenges of the world and focusing our attention on Him.

Jesus is our ultimate example. He endured the ultimate suffering—the cross—because He focused on the "joy set before Him." He looked past the pain and shame to the glorious outcome: our salvation and His exaltation. When we face our own trials, we can find strength and encouragement in His example. We are not running this race alone; we are running it with Jesus as our guide, His power as our strength, and His victory as our assurance.

Why do God Disciplines?

Remember that God's discipline is a sign of His love, not His rejection. The scripture reminds us that a loving father disciplines his child. When we experience trials or correction, it is an opportunity for growth and a reminder that we are His cherished children. Let's embrace this truth and trust in His purpose for us.

Today, identify one "weight" or "entangling sin" that has been hindering your spiritual walk. It could be a bad habit, a distraction, or a negative thought pattern. Acknowledge it before God and commit to intentionally "throwing it off" with His help. "fixing your eyes on Jesus" and His finished work on the cross.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of salvation and the race of faith you have called me to run.

I confess that I often get distracted and weighed down, O Lord be my strength

Jesus, my Lord and Savior, I fix my eyes on you today. You are my example and my source of strength. Help me to endure with perseverance, just as you did,

When I face trials, help me to remember your victory and trust in your purpose.

Holy Spirit, guide me and correct me. Help me to recognize your discipline as a sign of your love and to receive it with a humble heart.

In Jesus name πŸ™
